All Holding in American Water Treatment Chemicals Company Kemiron to Kemira

Kemira strengthens its position in the North-American water treatment business through the purchase of the remaining 40 per cent shares in Kemiron Companies Inc. Kemira's previous holding in Kemiron had totaled 60% of all shares while the holding of Lawrence Hjersted, the founder and managing director of Kemiron, had been 40% of all shares in the company. Lawrence Hjersted will continue in charge of Kemira's water treatment business in North America.

It is a fact that the United States and Canada are the largest single market for water treatment chemicals in the world", says Lennart Johansson, President, Kemira Kemwater.
Kemira's North American water treatment business basically consists of Kemiron and Eaglebrook International Group which was acquired last year. The two companies are able to supply their customers in both the municipal sector and in industry a large selection of complete solutions in iron and aluminum coagulants. The net sales of Kemiron and Eaglebrook total approximately USD 165 million and they employ approximately 500 persons.
Kemira has approximately twenty water treatment chemical production plants and distribution sites based in the US and in Canada.
The production units located in the US are in Bartow (FL), Mojave (CA), Fontana (CA), St. Louis (MO), Rowley (UT), Houston (Texas), Gastonia (NC), Savannah (GA), Spokane (WA), East Chicago (IN), Pearlington (MS) and Edgemoor (DE).
The production plants located in Canada are in Brantford (ON), Ottawa (ON) and Varennes (QU).
The company's North American headquarters are located in Florida, but the company also has administrative functions located in Matteson, Illinois.
Kemira Group is the global leader in coagulants for water treatment chemicals. Kemira is in a position to supply complete solutions for both municipal water treatment and industrial solutions. The range of solutions covers drinking water and waste water treatment, as well as sludge treatment. The range will be expanded to treatment of industrial wastewater and sludge. Net sales in water treatment is expected to grow substantially on 2004 (285 million) thanks to the Eaglebrook acquisition made in North America. Kemira's water treatment production plants are located in ca. 30 countries and the business employs a personnel of 1,450.
